Police in Chikwawa have launched a manhunt for unknown thugs for murdering a 5 year-old boy and removing his private parts.
The deceased has been identified as Promise Njanji of Bankamu Village under Traditional Authority Chapananga and was also a Standard 1 learner at Dzinthenga primary school.
According to the deceased’s uncle, Safunika Biliat, the boy went out to a video show on 22 July 2020 around 1900 hours and never returned home, prompting his mother to search for him but to no avail.
However, on 23 July 2020 around 0800 hours, the boy’s body was found dumped in a garden within the village with private parts chopped.
The scene was visited by police who were accompanied by medical practitioner from Kakoma Health Centre.
Postmortem results revealed that death was due to bleeding secondary to deep cuts.
Meanwhile, investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits.
The police are further appealing to anyone who may have information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators to come forward.
