A 30-year-old man allegedly shot his 25-year-old wife to death over suspicion of her having an affair in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Later, the accused, with an associate’s help, stabbed and shot his wife’s 45-year-old suspected paramour.

The incident took place in the district’s Mau city. According to the police, the accused, identified as Anand Yadav, used to work as a labourer in Gwalior. He returned after the imposition of lockdown.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Singh Kanchan told NDTV that he suspected his wife Saroj of having an affair with Hariom Agrawal, an oil merchant. The suspicion triggered him to murder both of them. After shooting his wife, he, along with an accomplice, stabbed Agarwal using a sharped-edged weapon and also shot him.

Kanchan said that Yadav and his unidentified accomplice are currently absconding and the hunt is on to nab them.

In another incident, a 42-year-old woman was allegedly axed to death by her husband over suspicion of her having an illicit relationship in Chandigarh Manimajra. The accused fled the house after committing the crime.

The couple’s children raised the alarm, following which neighbours rushed to the house and alerted the police. Cops took the woman to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead. During the investigation, police learnt that accused would frequently fight with his wife over suspicion of an affair.
