Former Director of State Residences and former Malawi Police Inspector General Mr Peter Mukhito has been granted bail hours after his arrest in the capital Lilongwe, faceofmalawi can reveal.
Mukhito was arrested in connection with cement worth MK5 billion of former President Peter Mutharika imported into the country on duty free.
Apart from Mukhito, the law enforcers also arrested former aide to President Peter Mutharika, Norman Chisale and former Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Commissioner Roza Mbilizi.
Meanwhile President Mutharika has distanced himself from the cement saga.
