The Malawi Police Service on Wednesday interrogated former President Peter Mutharika over his involvement in the cement importation scandal worth MK5 billion.

The interrogation took place at at Mutharika’s private residence in Mangochi district and was led by Head of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in the Police Service Bob Mtekama.

Effort to talk to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera refused to comment on the matter.

Reccently the law enforcers arrested Mutharika’s aide, Norman Chisale and Chief of Staff at State House Peter Mukhito over the matter.

The law enforcers also arrested Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) Commissioner Roza Mbilizi for having a hand on the issue.

Meanwhile investigations on the matter continues.
