Police in Nkhata Bay are keeping in custody a 39 year old Kossam Ngonya for being found in possession of medical drugs and medical equipment without a license at Pundu trading center in the district.
His arrest comes barely a week after another man in Nkhotakota was also netted for a similar offence.
Among other things, Ngonya was found with a full malaria testing kit, assorted medical drugs such as Rifampicin, indocid capsules and Lofnac.
According to Kondwani James, the district’s police spokesperson, some of the items were found in his shop while the rest were confiscated at his house.
Ngonya who hails from Muona village in the area of T/A Mwenemusuku in Chitipa district is expected to appear before the court soon to answer charges of possessing medical drugs and equipment without a license.
