A history-sheeter was gunned down allegedly by his former gang member over a tattoo dispute in Bhosari area of Pune district in Maharashtra. The slain criminal has been identified as 26-year-old Mayur Haridar Madake.

The murder took place late on Saturday night. According to police, the murder of Madake, a resident of Markal Road in Alandi, is connected to a tattoo dispute over the name of ‘gang leader’.

According to a report in Indian Express, Madake’s friend Dinesh Chaudhary has filed a complaint at Bhosari police station.

Meanwhile, police have arrested seven men in connection with the murder. The accused are identified as 23-year-old Mangesh Shukracharya More, 21-year-old Roshan Hari Savdatkar, 22-year-old Pranesh Chandrakant Ghorpade,  22-year-old Shubham Balram Wani, 21-year-old Vaibhav Tanaji Dhore, 22-year-old Amit Subhash Shekapure and 20-year-old Shubham Ajay Bansode. All the accused are residents of Bhosari except Shubham, who is a resident of Bhavani Peth.

“Previously, the main accused Mangesh More worked with Madake. The accused is also a history-sheeter and spent over one year in jail in a robbery case. He was released on bail by the high court. Mangesh believed that Madake did not help him from getting out of jail on bail. Later, differences arose between the two and Mangesh started influencing Madake’s gang members. There was also a dispute over a tattoo when one of the gang members said ‘MM’ now stands for Mangesh More and not Mayur Madake. Following this, Madake had attacked More,” the report quoted Sub-Inspector Mahendra Gadhave, who is probing the case.

Police added that gang members of Madake had engraved a tattoo ‘MM’ on their hands denoting they are associated with Mayur Madake’s gang. According to police, the deceased Madake was a history-sheeter and was involved in several criminal cases.

“On Saturday night, Mangesh More, who was banned from entering the city limits, returned and consumed liquor with Madake at a friend’s house on Dighi Road. During the liquor party, More and the other accused attacked Madake with a sharp weapon leading to his death,” said the police officer.
