Christian Organisation For Orphans has trained 60 orphans refugees at Dzaleka refugee camp on how they can prevent the spread of Covid-19.

According to the coordinator of  the  organisation, William Iyango,  empowering vulnerable refugees and orphans to be self-reliant in the camp is critical in ensuring that the refugees are not exposed to danger.

Iyango observes that “refugees who are orphaned find it hard to get COVID-19 preventive materials at Dzaleka refugee camp.”

He made the remarks when the organization oriented the vulnerable refugees and orphans on COVID-19 prevention.

Meanwhile, one of the vulnerable refugees at the camp Opitiko Vono said “we are facing numerous challenges in the camp ranging from inadequate food and lack of COVID-19 preventive materials.”

Vono has since hailed Christian Organisation for Orphans for the help it gives them such as psycho-social and material support.

Dzaleka refugee camp in Dowa hosts over 40 thousand refugees.
