Police in Balaka district have arrested two people for allegedly being found in possession of ivory valued at about K26 million.
Balaka Police deputy spokesperson Precious Makuta says the law enforcers arrested the two suspects Blackstone Mwale, 41 and 40-year-old Chimwemwe Chindimba after getting a tip that the two were offering the ivory, weighing about 20 kilograms, for sale.
Makuta said the two were arrested within Balaka township and are expected to answer a charge of illegal possession of listed species.
