Andrea Athie was shocked to find out that the dog she rescued was actually a wild coyote.
While Andrea Athie was driving, she noticed an injured animal on the side of the road. Naturally, she quickly jumped out of the car and ran to the aid of the poor creature who seemed to have broken its leg. She picked up the docile animal and immediately took it to the veterinarian’s office – only to find out that what she believed to be an injured dog was actually a wild coyote.
The young woman’s story quickly went viral after her brother shared it on Twitter.
Alejandro, Andrea Athie’s brother, reported the incident on Twitter as he wrote:
“Today my sister picked up a COYOTE thinking it was a run-over dog and took it to the vet.”

The young woman then replied to his tweet, stating:
Why did you burn me like that!? Haha, I love you.
Pancho is very well, he begins his treatment today.
For all who are interested.
Since then, Andrea Athie has been posting regular updates on Pancho‘s health.
According to The Mind Unleashed, she had tweeted that ‘the coyote would receive five days of intense treatment so that his hind legs could be healed’. What is more, she later informed her followers that the animal’s recovery would take longer than expected as she said:
Pancho is not responding as we expected, everything is being done for him [but] he doesn’t want to eat or cooperate to try to move after his treatments. He is a wild animal, therefore when he outside his natural habitat he grows depressed but we will keep trying.

At the end of the day, even after the young woman had found out that the injured dog was actually a wild coyote, she continued taking care of it. The world needs more people like Andrea Athie – people whose kindness is so powerful that it will drive them to run to the aid of an animal in need, even if it is a wild coyote!
