Former Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) Director General Charles Nsaliwa will receive Mk569 952 818 million as compensation for constructive dismissal from the institution.
The development came barely hours after the High Court ordered the Malawi Police Service to compensate raped women in Nsundwe.
According to court documents seen by this publication, Nsaliwa has been given K42,060,000.00 for immediate loss, K514 118 649.35 million as compensation for future loss and K13 774 169 million as severance allowance.
The court has also ordered MACRA to sell Nsaliwa the vehicle he was using while he was at the institution as stipulated in his contract.
Nsaliwa’s lawyers has hailed the ruling, saying the case has taken 5 years to be concluded.
Meanwhile Malawians have urged government to tread carefully when firing Directors of State institutions.
