The Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has learnt with deep shock the sudden death of Mr Patrick Khoza, former Director General of the national broadcaster.

A statement issued by incumbent MBC Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta said Khoza passed on in Blantyre on Saturday 15th August, 2020 at the age of 70.Born on 29th April, 1950, he joined MBC in 1971 where he worked for many years before leaving the organization in 1989 to pursue some private business.

He later rejoined MBC as its Director General on 1st January, 2007, a position that he held up until his retirement in July, 2011.

“The late Khoza, a highly experienced and multi-talented broadcaster, will be greatly missed by his former colleagues at MBC for his positive contribution towards the growth of the national broadcaster,” Sumbuleta said.

The DG said Khoza will also be “remembered for his pivotal role that he played resulting in the merging of MBC Radio and Malawi Television, then into one entity, MBC.”

Burial for the late Khoza will take place on Sunday, 16th August, 2020 at his home village, Jumbe, in T/A Somba’s area in Blantyre.
