Police in Salima have arrested a couple for murdering their 3 year-old son, Collins Jeke.
They have been identidied as Stain Chingwege, 32 and Mtisunge Banda 22.
Brief facts are that, the deceased was a step son to Stain while Mtisunge was the biological mother.
Stain was not happy with the child and advised the wife to take the child to his biological father or to any of the relatives.
This has been the order of the day in the family and in order to safeguard their marriage, the two agreed to kill the child.
The killed child was burried in a bushy area around the fields.
On August 12, 2020 people from Mangwe village around Kaphatenga became suspicious when they saw dogs with decomposed human parts and they later reported to police.
When police visited the scene, Miss Ireen Milward, grandmother to the deceased noticed that her grandson has missed for sometime even after enquiring from other relatives and became suspicious that her daughter might have killed her son and later became a reporter.
When interrogated, Mtisunge revealed to police that the two really killed their son on agreement.
The preliminary postmortem result released by medical officers from Salima District Hospital showed that death was due to strangulation secondary to suffocation.
The two will appear in court soon to answer the charge of murder which is contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
Both of the suspect come from Mangwe village in the area of Traditional Authority Salima in Salima district.
