In a shocking incident, a 53-year-old man, in an inebriated state, allegedly hacked his 20-year-old son to death at their residence in Uppupadanna village under the limits of Payyavur Police in Kannaur district of Kerala on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Saji George, has been arrested. He initially told the police that his son Sharon had not given food to their pet dog, therefore he murdered him. However, later he confessed to having planned Sharon’s elimination beforehand.

He said that he was angry with his son for deliberately pushing him during an argument on the previous day. So, he stabbed him to death. Neighbours took Sharon to a hospital, where medics declared him brought dead.

The now-deceased youth’s mother resides in Italy. She works as a nurse there. His neighbours said that Saji was habitual of returning home in an inebriated condition. This resulted in frequent fights between him and Sharon, according to a report by The New Indian Express.

Police said that the accused was drunk when he committed the crime. He has been sent to remand custody after being produced in a court.

In another incident, a 40-year-old man was allegedly hammered to death by his father over a property dispute. The incident took place in Satyanagar area of Andhra Pradesh’s Vishakhapatnam last week.

An altercation flared up between Veeraraju and his son Jalaraju over the transfer of some land on Wednesday last week, following which Veeraraju repeatedly attacked him with a hammer, leading to his death.

The incident was captured on CCTV. In a video, Veeraraju can be seen assaulting Jalaraju with the hammer till he fell on the ground. After the murder, Veeraraju went to the local police station and turned himself in to the cops. Police have booked him for murder.
