Minister of Gender, Disability and Social Welfare Patricia Kaliati has engaged communities in Machinga district on the dangers of early marriages and negative impact that comes along with it.
Kaliati shared the message when she presided over graduation of 200 girls who were rescued form early marriages at Kapoloma village in the area of Senior Chief Nkoola in the district.
“Yesterday I visited Machinga district where I had several Ministerial engagements at Kapoloma village in the area of Senior Chief Nkoola
“Firstly, I presided over the official graduation of two hundred girls who were rescued from early marriages and have gone through tailoring training by DAPP,” she said.
Kaliati further encouraged young girls to go back to school this September as the government is contemplating on re-opening schools after 6 months of closure due to Coronavirus pandemic.
