The body of Owen Kocherani, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Governor for Thyolo Central was laid to rest at his home village on Tuesday.

Leader of opposition Kondwani Nannkhumwa who is also DPP Vice President for the South led hundreds of party supporters in paying last respect to Kocherani.

In his eurology, Nankhumwa described the loss of Kocherani as a big brawl to the party.

He said Kocherani sacrificed everything to ensure that DPP under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika remained in power but his dream failed to materialize.

“I wish to assure the spirit of Owen’s spirit that we will carry on with his dream of creating better lives and economic opportunities for all Malawians by ensuring that DPP returns to power come 2025,” said Nankhumwa.

Kocherani died suddenly on Monday after collapsing at his home.
