A local court in Bihar sentenced a woman and her mother-in-law to death in Bihar’s Gopalganj for killing a 4-year-old boy. The two women sacrificed the child as one of them wanted a male child through black magic.

On September 5, 2017, the two women murdered the child at Chhituana, Gopalganj. The incident took place under the Vijaypur police station.

The deceased child was identified as Deo Kumar. One of the convicts, Sankesha did not have a male child. Durgwati and Sankesha decided to practice black magic to fulfil her want for a son.

On the day of the incident, Sankesha hacked Deo to death in her bedroom with sickles. The two women then dumped his body under a pile of grass, a few minutes away from their home.

After the investigation of the case began, the police arrested the accused women and recovered the weapons used by them. The police also confiscated the bloodstained clothes of the 4-year-old child from Sankesha’s bedroom, The Times of India reported.

On July 5, the two women were pronounced guilty during a virtual hearing. Deo Vansh Giri, Gopalganj public prosecutor said, “The death sentence was also pronounced via virtual hearing. Both were present before the court through video conference from jail. ” As per the government counsel, 11 out of 13 witnesses testified in the court and supported the prosecution while two of them did not turn up.
