Police in Balaka District have arrested two armed robbers who raided a businessperson’s premises where they stole K235,000 cash, six laptops and eight phones all valued at K3.4 million.

According to Balaka Police Public Relations Officer, Felix Misomali, the suspects were armed with a pump gun riffle with seventeen live bullets.

The incident occurred on August 21, 2020 around 21:30 hours at Andiamo location within Balaka Township.

“The robbers raided the home of Blessings Banda at Andiamo in the district where they tied him up and stole the items. Police rushed to the scene after being alerted and they arrested the two while three others escaped, abandoning the rifle, “said Misomali.

He added saying that the pump gun riffle has been intercepted and two laptops have been recovered so far.

A manhunt has been launched for the ones on the run.
