In a disturbing development, a Filabusi man died after he was struck and killed with a brick by his neighbour for walking with the latter’s lover. The jealous neighbour accused the now deceased of cheating with his lover before attacking him with a brick. The horrific incident happened on 21 May, 2020.
The publication has learned from The Chronicle that Moses Sibanda of Zamanjalo Village killed his neighbour Carlos Ndlovu with a brick after accusing him of cheating with his girlfriend (name not disclosed).
Sibanda was not asked to plead when he appeared before Gwanda magistrate, Miss Lerato Nyathi facing a murder charge.
State prosecutor, Miss Ethel Mahachi told the court that on the fateful day, Sibanda met the now-deceased Ndlovu walking with the former’s girlfriend. This did not go down well with Sibanda.
Out of nowhere and with no substantive evidence, he is alleged to have accused the late Ndlovu of being in love with his girlfriend.
“On 21 May at around 2 PM Sibanda was on his way to see his girlfriend at her home when he met her on the way while she was walking with Mr. Ndlovu. Sibanda became furious and confronted Mr. Ndlovu,” said Mahachi.
The court heard that Ndlovu didn’t respond to the insults that were being thrown at him by Sibanda but walked away leaving the couple to sort out their issues.
It is not clear what transpired between the couple that prompted Sibanda to follow and strike Ndlovu with a brick on the back of his head before fleeing from the scene.
Shocked by what her boyfriend had done, the woman rushed to a nearby homestead where she sought help.
Ndlovu was rushed to a nearby clinic where he was unfortunately pronounced dead on admission. The matter was reported to the police leading to Sibanda’s arrest.
He was remanded in custody to September 1, 2020.
