A 36-year-old man in South Africa has been sentenced by Eastern Cape High Court in Port Elizabeth to 25 years imprisonment for the murder of a man in vengeance of his (convict) father’s death.

News24 identified the convict as Brandon Lucas who murdered Niftagudien Mallick in January 2019.

The convict told the court that during the day of the incident, Lucas was driving when he saw Mallick walking along the street with his wife. In his plea, he stated that he thought it was the ideal opportunity for him to avenge his father’s death.

Lucas got out of his car and approached the couple with a firearm in hand and fatally shot Mallick.

He then went to the police station and handed himself over.

The deputy director of public prosecutions advocate Indra Goberdan commended the prosecutor and the investigating team on a job well executed, News24 reports.
