In a sad turn of events, what was supposed to be a celebratory birthday party turned into a tragic nightmare, after the host was killed by some gate crashers for denying them food.
The tragic incident took place in Gweru district, Zimbabwe last weekend when Charles Musekiwa hosted a birthday party at his home. After noticing the festivities, Brightworth Kaputo (28) and his friends Brighton Mlauzi (20), Marshal Muza (19), and Joseph Zulu (28) gatecrashed the event.
The hosts decided not to eject the quartet and allowed them to follow the proceedings.
However, when people started eating, the four gatecrashers were denied food as they had not been budgeted for. This did not go down well with the four who, after initially leaving the party, came back with violence and attacked the people at the party.
Unfortunately Musekiwa, the party host, later succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the brutal attack.
This was confirmed by Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Joel Goko who told The Herald, “On Saturday last week, Mr Charles Musekiwa (43) had a birthday and invited some people to celebrate with him at his house.
“The four suspects — Kaputo, Mlauzi, Muza and Zulu — gatecrashed the celebrations, but were allowed to follow proceedings.”
Inspector Goko said that the authorities have since arrested Kaputo but his three accomplices are still at large.
He appealed for the public to help the authorities in apprehending the remaining miscreants.
“Police arrested Kaputo following the death of Mr Musekiwa. We appeal for information that might assist in the arrest of his accomplices,” he said.
