The former Disney star Bella Thorne opened an OnlyFans account and her debut was record-breaking.

While OnlyFans is mostly associated with adult content, the 22-year-old has confirmed that she will not be posting content containing nudity.

Thorne has spoken to Los Angeles Times, saying that she hopes her OnlyFans will become a place where she can ‘just be more personal with [her] fans’ and where she can send good night and good morning voice memos. Nevertheless, she has explained that she would be open to uploading more suggestive adult content such as pictures of her in a bikini

PAPER magazine reminds us that Thorne had previously leaked her nudes after she was threatened by a hacker. Thus, she has always been regarded as ‘a strong advocate for women owning their sexuality’ and their financial freedom.

In an interview with PAPER, Thorne discussed her OnlyFans account and explained:

OnlyFans is the first platform where I can fully control my image; without censorship, without judgement, and without being bullied online for being..

Apart from it being a source of income, her OnlyFans account is reportedly linked to research for a movie.

Subscriptions to Thorne’s OnlyFans cost $20 a month or $102 for six months and the star’s earnings will be put into her production company as well as charity. What is more, she further explained that her account is part of the research that she is currently conducting for a film with Sean Baker. Thorne spoke to Los Angeles Times and claimed the following via text message:

It’s a feature we are researching as I’m living it currently […] What are the ins and outs? What does a platform like this do to its users? What’s the connective material between your life and your life inside the world of OnlyFans? … How can it change your life for the worse and the better? How far are you willing to go, and how far do you WANT to go? You can be me, or this talented girl from Montana, and OnlyFans could change your life — if you want it to, of course.

Thorne has received criticism for her record-breaking earnings and her OnlyFans account.

Sex workers who use and rely on the platform for their income critiqued the star on Twitter and Instagram. More specifically, they complained that as a result of her account, OnlyFans had crashed for about a week and they had therefore been unable to make money. In addition to this, they explained that the majority of sex workers are fighting for their rights and so they believe that instead of creating an account, Thorne should have interviewed those who already use and rely on the platform.
