The Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has dismissed claims that it is planning to lower this year’s examinations passing grades.
Reports indicated that the move was aimed to compensate students who have stayed out of class for too long due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Schools are set to open on September 7 for learners in examination classes after 6 months of closure due to the pandemic in March this year.
MANEB Executive Director Gerald Chiunda insists that lowering the pass grade would compromise set standards and value of certificates.
