Mozambique has begun the second phase of easing Covid-19 restrictive measures under the country’s latest state of emergency.

Cinemas, casinos, theatres, gymnasiums, driving schools and motorised sports have been allowed to reopen starting Tuesday.

They will all be required to frequently disinfect their premises and equipment and all people coming in to wear face masks and wash their hands.

The second phase begins at a time when the first phase that included the reopening of face-to-face classes in higher educational institutions is still facing hiccups to kick off.

Religious gatherings of up to 50 people were also allowed but that too has faced hiccups.

Some institutions have not been able to meet the requirements or the permission has been suspended.

In the education sector, the reopening faced issues of some students testing positive for coronavirus.
