BLANTYRE – One person has died on road accident at Blantyre Water Board road junction along Makata road.
Sergeant Maxwell Jailos, Public Relations Officer for Ndirande Police Station said that the accident happened in the morning of Tuesday, September 01,2020
“The accident involved a motor vehicle registration number NE2397/BJ4146 Freightliner truck which was being driven by Mr McCloud Hara 47, of Mfawe village T/A Ntwalo in Mzimba district and a pedal cyclist, Luka Banda 31, from Namwayi village T/A Mkalo in Chiladzulu district.
The car was being driven from direction of chichiri round about heading towards B and C along Makata road. Upon arrival at Blantyre Water Board he lost control of the vehicle and swelved to the extreme off side where he ended up hitting the pedal cyclist who was cycling from different direction.” Explained Sergeant Jailos
The Ndirande Police Station PRO said due to the impact, the pedal cyclist sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth hospital.
