The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) has said it will not re-open on September 7 as directed by government.
Last month, in a weekly national address, President Lazarus Chakwera said that all schools should re-open after assessing the situation of the novel Coronavirus.
In a press statement seen by this publication, the school’s management said they will not re-open until all modalities of reopening are finalized.
“Following the Government’s directive that all school/colleges/universities should re-open, Management would like to inform all students that the University will open as soon as all modalities of re-opening are finalized,” read part of the statement.
According to the statement, all student are encouraged to continue with online learning which was opened on August 3 and 24, 2020.
“Since the University opened on 3rd and 24th August, with online teaching, Management would like to encourage all students to with this teaching and learning mode until all logistical arrangements for face-to-face mode are finalized,” added the statement.
Further, the statement said that “The University will announce the opening date very soon. Management is strongly advising that no student should report on Sunday, September 7, 2020 since the campus is still closed.”
However, student from the University are not happy with the online learning and are yet to pen the management on their concerns.
