Leadership squabbles continue to rock the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as member of the National Governing Council (NGC) have come on the open to push for an early convention to replace former President Peter Mutharika.
The development comes barely a week after former DPP Secretary General Grezeldar Jeffrey also back calls for convention.
The grouping has also asked the National Executive Committee (NEC) to dissolve recent appointment made during the emergency meeting held at Mutharika’s retirement home in Mangochi.
The grouping claims that NEC has no powers to fire and hire members who were duly elected during the convention.
But newly appointed spokesperson Brown Mpinganjira claims he is not aware of the grouping.
Mpinganjira went further by claiming that Mutharika will soon call for an NGC meeting where some burning issues in the party will be resolved.
Since losing the fresh Presidential polls on June 23, 2020, DPP has been embroiled in leadership squabbles.
