Three public officers are in police custody for allegedly embezzling K33 million at the Mchinji District Council.
The two are Davie Chikhadwe an Accounts Assistant and Precious Kapachika a retired accountant both at Mchinji District Hospital.
The third one is Lawrence Mchocho, an Assistant Accountant at District Agriculture Office.
Confirming the development, Mchinji District Commissioner Peter Jimusole revealed that the three were arrested after a financial audit at the council.
Jimusole says the three allegedly syphoned the money from January to August this year after tampering with the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS).
