A 24 year-old woman, Sinai Elisa has committed suicide by taking Actellic tablets in Mchinji after suspecting her husband of infidelity.
According to Mchinji Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kondwani Kandiado, the deceased who got married in July, 2020 has been suspecting her husband of being in a love affair with their tenant, an allegation the husband had denied.
The PRO said on Tuesday the husband to the deceased received a call while at work that his wife was seriously sick after allegedly taking a poisonous pill.
“So this prompted the husband to rush home and took his wife to the hospital where she died whilst receiving treatment,” he said.
Kandiado said that, “The matter was then reported to Kapiri Police Unit and the Officers visited the scene of the incident,”
Post-mortem conducted by health officials revealed that the death was due to poisoning which caused hypoxia to the brain.
The deceased hailed from Mbewa village in the area of Traditional Authority Mkanda in the district.
