Quarrels between a Zimbabwean couple in South Africa turned nasty last Tuesday after the jilted boyfriend decided to tie his girlfriend Solomina Mbombe with a wire on the bed and set her alight in broad daylight, right in the presence of her family.
Solomina Mbombe, 39, a Zimbabwean woman working as a house help in South Africa was found burnt to ashes with both her legs and hands tied to a bed with wire last Tuesday in Sekgakgapeng kasi outside Mokopane in Limpompo.
Her unnamed Zimbabwean boyfriend is the first suspect on her death.
It is alleged that a fight erupted between the two over money.
Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed the incident saying that the suspect is still at large and cops are still searching for him.
“What caused the fire is unknown at this stage. The dead woman’s boyfriend, whom they used to quarrel a lot and she had obtained a protection order against him, was allegedly seen around the scene before the deceased’s room burnt,” he said.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Abel Bombe, a neighbor and relative claimed that he together with other neighbors saw fire coming out of the deceased’s house before her boyfriend rushed out claiming that he was burning some ‘rubbish’ outside the house.
He walked out on street leaving smoke coming out the direction of the house.
Minutes later, they discovered the house was on fire and had to rush to extinguish the fire. They were shocked to find Solomina inside, burnt to ashes, and tied to the bed with a wire.
Speaking to Daily Sun, the family was shocked by the cruel incident that took their daughter, whom they thought was living in harmony with her boyfriend.
The disturbing incident is under investigations and more details will follow.
