Former Minister of Information Henry Mussa who is also senior Member of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has been formally charged with two counts; theft by public servant and abuse of office.

Mussa was arrested together with former Director of Information in the ministry Gideon Munthali.

Munthali has also been charged with two counts on the same matter.

They are accused of stealing computers and generators for the ministry.

One of the 10 computers in question has been recovered from Munthali’s house while one of the three gensets has been recovered from Mussa’s house, according to State prosecutors.

The two through their lawyers Chrispin Mndala and Powell Nkhutabasa have since applied for bail.

The court will deliver its ruling on the bail application at 3pm.
