Just few hours after dumping the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Malani Mtonga has joined Alliance For Democracy (AFORD).
Mtonga made the announcement of withdrawing his membership from the party this morning through a press statement directed to the office of DPP’s Secretary General.
Until his resignation, Mtonga was serving as DPP’s Deputy National organizing Secretary.
Mtonga says he has been following AFORD for a long time and he believes in its leadership.
Mtonga said his time in DPP had expired hence quitting the party.
He said he had a right to join any party in the country and opted for AFORD because of its leadership.
AFORD President Enoch Chihana said the joining of Mtonga in AFORD is a clear signal that AFORD remains a strong party.
Chihana says people are attracted to AFORD because it is a clean party.
