The Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU) is expressing satisfaction over the proposed 13% salary increment for public sector workers.
Finance Minister Felix Mlusu announced the plan during presentation of his K2.2 trillion 2020/2021 national budget statement last Friday.
According to MCTU Secretary General Denis Kalekeni, most Malawians are currently affected by impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic such that a salary revision and an increase in the tax-free threshold are welcome.
