State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday had an audience with well-known musicians Simon and Kendall at Kamuzu Palace in the capital Lilongwe.
Although what transpired in the meeting is yet to be disclosed, rumours show that Chakwera called the two to thank them campaigning for him in the fresh polls.
Tawoloka Nyanja hit markers, campaigned heavily for the Tonse Alliance under Chakwera and Dr. Saulos Chilima ahead of the fresh Presidential polls.
The two released two popular songs praising the two leaders ahead of the polls. This angered then then ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and some youth cadets torched the vehicle of the two in the capital Lilongwe.
Chakwera outclassed Peter Mutharika in the fresh polls with over 2.9 million votes against 1.7 million votes.
