In the past 24 hours, Malawi has registered 4 new COVID-19 cases, 20 new recoveries, and no new deaths.

Three of the new cases are locally transmitted infections: two are from Blantyre, and one is from Nkhotakota.

The imported case was identified at Mwanza border among returnees from South Africa and the case is a resident of Machinga.

Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 5,701 cases including 178 deaths. Of these cases, 1,142 are imported infections and 4,559 are locally transmitted.

Cumulatively, 3,762 cases have now recovered bringing the total number of active cases to 1,761.

The average age of the cases is
36.5 years, the youngest case being aged 1 month, the oldest being 98 years old and 68% are male.

161 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, cumulatively 48,816 tests have been conducted in the country.
