Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare Patricia Kaliati, yesterday was joined by the Minister of National Unity and civic Education Timothy Mtambo sensitizing chiefs on the need to fight and end Gender Based Violence (GBV).

The two held n interface meeting with Traditional Authority (TA) M’bwatalika, chiefs and other leaders in the capital Lilongwe.

In her remarks Kaliati urged chiefs to play their role in fighting gender based violence in their areas especially in Msundwe where it is alleged that police officers sexually assaulted women.

Kaliati therefore asked chiefs to ensure that the women are respected and not insulted.

“I urged them to work together to make sure these women can live a normal life in their respective areas,” Kaliati said.
