Florence Nthakomwa has announced that she will stand as an independent candidate in the by-elections slated for November 10, 2020 after pulling out her candidature from the United Transformation Movement (UTM).

Nthakomwa is among people the people who are contesting for the parliamentarian position in Karonga Central Constituency after the position fell vacant following the passing of Cornelius Mwalwanda who succumbed to Coronavirus.

During primary elections for UTM, Nthakomwa was facing Frank Mwenifumbo who recently joined the party form Alliance For Democracy (AFORD) and later pulled out of the race.

According to Nthakomwa, the party was sidelining her.
