A 40-year-old pregnant woman, Harriet Gabriel Ngombelo has died in a fire accident in Blantyre after her house caught fire whilst she was resting inside.

Chileka Police station deputy Public Relations Officer, Yvonne Kalampa, confirmed of the incident in an interview with Nation Publication Limited (NPL)

According to Kalampa, the accident occurred yesterday morning, at Namwira Village, Traditional Authority Kunthembwe.

Kalampa said health authorities confirmed that death was due to severe burns and suffocation due to heavy smoke.

“The cause of the fire still remains unknown as investigations are underway, ” said Kalampa.

Ngombole hailed from Namwira Village, Traditional Authority Kunthembwe in the district.
