At some point we’ve all mused about donating parts of our body organs, like a kidney or bone narrow to our loved ones should we find ourselves in such a situation.
We all know the thought is much tougher than the reality and as we mull over the matter, the list of worthy donors dwindles drastically or become non existent.
It’s a tough and conflicting decision as there’s always a chance that things might not work out as hoped and it would all be for nothing and it’s also an invasive procedure which also has an effect on our mortality.
However The Voice Contestant Myracle Holloway braved it and donated a kidney to her boyfriend who had suffered a kidney failure.
The couple met on the set of The Voice where Stitch worked as a fashion designer. However they were friends before it turned into a love relationship.
She said God led her to make the tough decision and she sacrificed her kidney for him so he could have another shot at life.
Then when I got to Chicago he tells me about his kidney. I was like that’s what I’m supposed to do, give him my kidney after I finish on the show #TheVoice. We weren’t together yet, but our friendship turned into a love relationship. I told him I would still give him my kidney even if we didn’t work out because I have to be obedient to what God is telling me.
When I say everybody from my friends to family thought I was insane. But I tuned them out. 8months of testing like blood work, every test under the sun and I was a good match for him. Only God could’ve done this.”
Stich opened up on his struggle
I’ve been working at about 60% for a few yrs now with very limited use of my legs. A few months ago my kidney was operating at only 8%, I couldn’t get outta of the bed because my muscles were soo tight, lost almost 30ibs…I knew i was getting close to the end. I had to start dialysis immediately, so 3 days a week. I had to go for treatment. I never complained or asked God why me, I just continued to use my gifts and help others with theirs.
The support from my family & friends has been amazing, so I just wanted to publicly thank you all for the prayers because you’re priceless for real.
To my clients, I’m sorry if I couldn’t come through how I typically would but quietly, I’ve been fighting for my life.
Yesterday I had a kidney transplant and as of today my kidney is almost normal thanks to @myracleholloway
The couple is now getting married at UIC Hospital in Chicago.
