The Lilongwe Magistrate court has granted bail to former Information Minister Henry Mussa and Former Director of Information Gideon Munthali who are alleged to have stolen computers and gensets at the ministry.
The two who are answering charges of theft by public servants and abuse of office, appeared before Principal resident magistrate Viva Nyimba on Monday after they were denied bail last week.
This was because, state had not concluded investigations.
It is alleged that the two, abused their office by sharing 10 computers and 3 generators when they were working with the ministry.
In his ruling, Magistrate Nyimba ruled that the accused be released on bail as the state has now confirmed to have concluded investigations.
He however ordered them to pay a 500 thousand kwacha bail bond and present 1 reliable and traceable sureties each to be bonded at 200 thousand kwacha.
The two accused have also been ordered to be reporting to central region police once every fortnight and surrender their travel documents.
In an interview, lawyer representing the accused, Powell Nkhutabasa said the case will return to court for plea taking on 20th October this year.
