Tom Cruise plans to film a movie onboard the International Space Station (ISS) in October 2021.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Tom Cruise had teamed up with Elon Musk and NASA to film a new movie that would be filmed in outer space and directed by Doug Liman. Now, it has officially been confirmed that these plans can finally turn into reality as Cruise and Liman’s trip to outer space has been scheduled for October 2021. On Twitter, Space Shuttle Almanac confirmed that Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria will fly the SpaceX Crew Dragon rocket and capsule with Doug Liman and Tom Cruise as tourists. What is more, they tweeted that one seat is still available and is yet to be filled.

NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine commented on the film.
In May of this year, Jim Bridenstine tweeted that NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise and Doug Liman aboard the International Space Station. Furthermore, he discussed the importance of making a film like this as he wrote: ‘We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA’s ambitious plans a reality’.

Tom Cruise is known for his daring stunts.
The Daily Mail reported that in 2016, the star had broken his ankle ‘while performing a rooftop-to-rooftop leap on the London location set of Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘. In addition to this, for his 2015 Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Cruise hung off the side of a plane as it took off, and in 2011, he climbed Dubai’s Burj Khalifa for Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Evidently, the star does not shy away from a challenge. While not much else is known about the film, NME explains that its budget is estimated to be around $200 million.
Cruise and Liman are sure to deliver an incredible film full of surprises and daring stunts.
