President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Umodzi Party (UP) leader Professor John Chisi as Board Chair of Medical Council of Malawi (MCM).
Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet Mr Zangazanga Chikhosi confirmed of the development in a statement released on Wednesday night made available to this publication.
According to Chikhosi, the appointment of Chisi is with immediate effect.
Chisi who is also in Tonse Alliance campaigned heavily for Chakwera and Dr. Saulos Chilima ahead of the fresh Presidential polls held on June 23, 2020 which saw Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declaring Chakwera as winner.
Chakwera outclassed former President Peter Mutharika of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), a party which formed an alliance with the United Democratic Front (UDF) of Atupele Muluzi.
