Government through the ministry of Gender Children and Social Welfare ha said it is dedicated to train more sign language teachers across the country.
Responsible minister Patricia Kaliati said this yesterday in Mzuzu during the commemoration day of International Day of sign languages.
At the event which took place at Mzuzu Grand Palace Hotel, Kaliati said the reason of training more sign language teachers is to build capacity in them so as to help those with special needs.
“As Government, we are dedicated to train more teachers in an effort to build capacity in them so as to help those with special needs achieve maximum support from us,” said Kaliati.
Kaliati added that deaf people should also not be left behind, they also need to be included in every developmental program because
“This year, we are focusing on investing in early childhood development and achieving sustainable goals,” she said.
This year’s event is being commemorated under the theme Sign Language, Right for all.
