Seven Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Ward Councillors for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the Eastern District of Zomba have joined United Transformation Movement (UTM), a party in Tonse Alliance.
The said Councillors were welcomed by UTM official Felix Njawala on Friday morning.
Njawala also welcomed Ward Councillor for United Democratic Front (UDF) into UTM.
Among the councillors who have been welcomed in Zomba are district council chairperson Basta Chirwa and former Zomba City deputy mayor Dave Maunde.
Chirwa is councillor for Mswaswa Ward in Zomba Changalume while Maunde is councillor for Chinamwali Ward in Zomba Central Constituency.
Effort to talk to DPP spokeperson Brown Mpinganjira on the defections proved futile.
