The 15 Game Rangers and Forestry Guards who were arrested in Kasungu for allegedly assaulting women during an operation at Chimaliro Forest Reserve are today appearing in court.

Their arrest followed a video clip which went viral on social media last week in which the guards allegedly force a woman to whip another several times for allegedly collecting firewood in the forest.

State Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent Vickness Chinseu says there are five victims involved.

“Some of the victims are still in hospital and the charges may be amended, ” she said.

They are appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Biar Kamanga to be formally charged.
