There are sporadic fires destroying hectares of trees in the Viphya plantation in Mzimba.
Viphya plantations division manager, Customs Nyirenda said that it is not clear what is exactly causing the fires.
He said the fire outbreaks have been on and off for two weeks now especially around Lusangazi, Nthungwa, Kalungulu, Champhoyo and Chikangawa which include government managed areas and concession areas managed by Raiply and other private companies.
