Minister of Information Gospel Kazako recently engaged  various media house owners and managers, a meeting aimed at improving the environment in which media houses operate.

Times Group’s Managing Director Leonard Chikadya outlined that high taxes and advertising arrears from the government are negatively affecting the operations of media houses in the country.

Agreeing with the comment was Nation Publications’ Deputy Chief Executive Officer Alfred Mtonga, who added that charging tax on advertising fees, cover prices and everything is threatening the future of media in the country.

“If this is not corrected on time, many televisions stations, radio stations and newspapers will be history,” he said.

In response, Kazako outlined that he relates with the issues that were presented, as he is a player in the media today. “…it was important that we meet with these media managers and owners so that together, we deal with the problems,” he said.
