United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has donated 72 solar panels to Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services.

The donation is expected to help in boosting inadequate energy which affected the production of weather forecasts.

The Solar panels were provided through a project called Scaling up the Use of Modernized Climate Information and Early Warning Systems implemented by government with support from UNDP.

The Department’s Director Jolamu Nkhokwe says with the frequent blackouts in the country, it was difficult for them to generate weather forecasts in the past.
