An unknown passenger has died after a vehicle he was traveling in overturned at DMI along Paul Kagame road in Lilongwe.
The incident occurred on Monday, September 28, 2020, in the afternoon.
The driver of the vehicle, Danford Chathyola, 37, driving Hijet registration number NB 5666 was driving from Shoprite heading Amina roundabout with 6 passengers on board. On arrival at DMI, he saw road traffic officials who were on check ahead of him and he started making a u-turn from outer lane to inner lane. In the process, he was hit by Daf lorry registration number BT 8765 which was in the same direction in the inner lane.
Following the impact the Hijet swerved to the right hand where it overturned and rested by its roof.
As a result one unknown male passenger sustained internal injuries and died whilst receiving treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital and other 5 passengers and the driver escaped with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, his remains are being kept at Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary pending identification.
