Parliament has rejected the newly appointed leader of opposition Francis Kasaila replacing Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South.

(DPP) Central Governing Committee resolved to remove Kondwani Nakhumwa as leader of opposition. The committee met on Monday at party’s president house in Mangochi.

DPP President Peter Mutharika communicated of the changes to the Office of the Speaker and first Deputy Speaker Richard Kazombo made the announcement on the changes on Wednesday afternoon in Parliament.

But the announcement received strong opposition from DPP MPs who denied being part of the new proposal.

The MPs accused Mutharika of dictating order of business in the national assembly.

Delivering his ruling on the matter, Kazombo trashed the move taken by Mutharika by replacing Nankhumwa as leader of opposition.
