Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Members of Parliament have elected the party Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa as leader of opposition.

The development follows a drama that happened in the National Assembly on Wednesday where some DPP MPs rejected the party’s President Proposal to have Francis Kasaila as new leader.

During a vote which took place at Parliament and presided over by the DPP Secretary General, Grezelder Jeffrey, Nankhumwa got 38 votes ahead of Francis Kasaila and Bright Msaka who got 4 votes and one vote, respectively.

The development means Nankhumwa will continue serving as leader of opposition.
